I've read that drinking a good protein shake is a good muscle builder. There are ones with high protein and low fat. I tried them and they are ALL yucky tasting. There has to be something for those of us who are finicky, but need that extra protein after exercise. I need at least 20g of protein. Should I scramble 4 eggs every day< LOL; that would also equal 20g of fat. And I'm not crazy about Egg Beaters. Helllllp; there must be a protein pill or something. I have been working out and would like to see some definition.

Easy!!

ON 100% Gold Standard Whey has 24g protein, 4g carbs, 110-130 calories per serving. I mix mine with 11 oz. skim milk.

Delicious flavors are: banana cream, extreme milk chocolate, mocha cappacino.

So-so flavor: strawberry

Gross: orange cream
-------------------------------

I get mine from bodybuilding.com, they are right down the highway from me so I always get it the next day, too.

"ON" is also known as "Optimum Nutrition"

Hi Autumn........have you tried Naked Juice's Protein Zone? It has no added sugar, all natural, and 38 grams of protein in one bottle. The serving size is 8 ozs and there are 2 servings in the bottle, so one serving would give you almost 20 grams of protein, 125 cal, and 2g fat. It's made with apples, banana, orange, pineapple, coconut, whey and soy proteins. Here in KS they sell for about $2.99 a bottle, but I only drink half a bottle at a time, so that helps on the cost, plus there is a lot of fruit in there, cheaper to buy the bottle rather than had I bought it all and made it myself. They have some other good drinks to, not as much protein as this one, but still good for you!

Does anyone know of a protein drink that DOES NOT contain soy? I would love to start using this but most of the products have soy, and I'm allergic to it.

I bought my whey protein at walmart for somewhere around $10 I think, maybe $14. It's by Body Fortress, has 23g protein in one scoop. I got the chocolate flavor, which I think is really good! Sometimes I throw in a banana or some peanut butter, it is yummy!!! I have one of those Magic Bullets, and it is wonderful for making individual size smoothies. Even if I'm just using the whey powder and milk I still use it, gives it a real good consistency. I read somewhere that whey protein is better for you than soy, but that might just have been someone's opinion, don't really know for sure myself, I just always go with whey.

All this talk of protein today, I can't believe I forgot to ask what I've been meaning to for the longest. What about too much protein?? My mother, who is 63, recently found out that she has WAY to much protein in her........I want to say liver?? Or would it be kidneys?? I can't remember, but any who, she also found out that she is diabetic, so maybe that has a lot to do with it, but she really has to watch her protein intake, in fact, she tries to keep it very very low!! I didn't know you could have too much, at least not to the point where you really have to limit yourself. What is too much anyway, for those of us that workout I'm assuming it is different from others, but I'm curious.

Thanks for the info about Whey Protein, however the products that I've seen labeled as Whey Protein has soy in the ingredients. I'll check for the brand that you mentioned and see if it has soy in it.

use egg white instead of whole egg.

The protein powder that Gilad sell tastes good but was too sweet for me.

I think if you eat protein through out the day you shouldn't have to worry.

There was a good tips this week about how much protein everyone needs.

WELL I JUST BOUGHT SOME WHEY PROTEIN POWDER, CHOCOLATE FLAVOR FROM WALMART. I DRANK IT WITHIN 20 MINUTES AFTER MY WORKOUT. IT HAS 52% OF MY DAILY NEED OF PROTEIN. IT DOESN'T TASTE HORRIBLE, BUT ITS NOT THE BEST TASTING. WHAT I DID WAS, PLUG MY NOSE, AND DRINK!!! IT WORKED, AND I GOT IT DOWN IN A MINUTE Smile I MIXED 1 SCOOP WITH SKIM MILK. I AM NOT A HUGE MEAT PERSON, AND I CAN'T EAT THAT MANY BEANS OR EGGS A DAY TO GET WHAT I NEED.

I use the following one... copying this from the label... got it at a natural foods store:

"Precision engineered, instant milk & egg protein powder drink for body building with papain (papaya enzyme)"

Great for after Gilad's cuts and curves and other heavy strength/conditioning workouts. It has "soy lecithin" in the ingredients but I think it must be minimal because I've had severe allergic reactions to soy milk in the past and I'm fine with this.

I'm excited because it's almost "summertime smoothie" season where strawberries are in season and I can make my famous (okay famous in my mind) - strawberry banana papaya smoothies! Smile
